So every time I start TF2 steam decides I need to validate the files….15 minutes later I can play.

Every night….every time I load it for the first time…ARGHHHHH!

I’ve deleted client blob ting and no dice, anyone know a fix?

Edit: Oh yeah, and I have waited for the pop up to appear saying it’s done too.

I’ve always had to resort to uninstalling TF2 completely, defragging my hdd and then downloading the game again. Nothing else has ever worked for me.

I usually just make a backup of the game, delete local content and re-install from backup. Worked every time so far for me..

Using a SSD so can’t comment on the defragging, will probably help if you still have a HDD.

If you click cancel on like 10% the game will load up

The ‘every time’ bit makes it sound like effort for little gain.

This is my kind of lazy ass solution. Never actually clicked cancel for some very strange reason. We got this.

I had this problem for ages, believe it or not is because of bad RAM.

I shall swiftly download some more.

It seems to have been fixed. It seems when you delete your damn client registry damn dotting goddamn blob file, you need to have closed down steam first. It seems I really am a massive mong.

Screw you client registry.blob file
Screw you steam
Screw you..YES YOU, for laughing at me.
Just screw.

same fucking problem. o/

Same solution:

Delete blob files while steam in closed (do I even need to say that?).

Or reinstall tf2 and if that doesnt work just fucking reinstall everything.

Seems I was premature. Still doing it. Bastard.

Pressing cancel doesn’t let the game load and all in all it looks like a re-install next.

Bugger.

Works for me too, but doesn’t work for any of my team.

Official Steam solution is trying the old clientreg.blob trick and then deleting everything but steam.exe and the steamapps folder + restarting Steam, but that didn’t fix it for me either. Seemed to work for some, might work for you.

It seems the new update has fixed this…

Might be premature, but TF2 loaded last night without validating.
