Every time I try to connect to quakenet, it disconnects me.
Perl interface loaded
* Looking up irc.quakenet.org
* Connecting to irc.quakenet.org (158.38.8.251) port 6667…
* Connected. Now logging in…
* *** Looking up your hostname
* *** Checking Ident
* *** Found your hostname
* *** No ident response
* Open Proxy, see http://www.quakenet.org/openproxies.html.
* Closing Link: Alloy by underworld1.no.quakenet.org (G-lined)
* Disconnected (Remote host closed socket).
Cycling to next server in QuakeNet…
* Disconnected ().
Does anybody have any fixes? Thanks
Edit: the link in the message is a 404

I am also struggling to connect to IRC…
14:06 * Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)
14:06 * Connect retry #1 uk.quakenet.org (6667)
It happened last week aswell, then fixed itself and now its broked again. Guessing its a ISP issue, I’m on VM.
Using a proxy is prohibited in Quakenet.

There is no uk.quakenet.org. The only UK server was hosted by – you guessed it – Multiplay. They took it down about a week ago after it was DDoSed (when the ETF2L bots went down). When I asked for an eta on bringing it back up they couldn’t say.

There used to be a stats page for the mp server here – when the server went down the user count plummeted to zero, considering the graph isn’t even there anymore I’d guess it’s never coming back.

if you use “irc.quakenet.org” you’ll be redirected to a random one automatically, if im not mistaken (perhaps its not random but based on ping/usercount, no idea)
You can see which quakenet server is closest to you on this site.
