Hey guys. Im having some trouble with tf2 fps drops recently. Is it because im playing on a laptop? When i play other games, amm.. well one other game, FIFA12 theres no lag etc. Is it my laptop or drivers, or some other thingies I dont know about makes my tf2 not pleasant to play? I add my laptop specs if it helps.

the speed of each core is too low, tf2 dosnt utilise modern cpu’s correctly so what matters is the speed of each core more than any thing. tf2 would run best on a 16Ghz single core if such thing existed

not relevant to topic & that 2ghz i7 should do 120fps easy, and the intel HD 3000 graphics should to do at least 100fps so its out of question that this comp cant handle tf2 ;]
get ur temps checked, try turning off/whitelisting tf2 in antivirus, defrag, revert any changes u have done to software recently (drivers or apps)… the usual stuff

Clock speed is a very poor indicator of performance, it is most definitely not the speed of the core that is important. Please educate yourself on how CPUs work before saying such nonsense in future.
As for “doesn’t utilise modern CPUs correctly”, that’s not really true. It utilises the CPU in the same way that pretty much any other modern game does — with multiple threads. Other issues are merely related to the nature of the methods being used.
Delete and redownload tf2 overnight.
Delete and reinstall graphics drivers.
By my calculations it should take one night. GOOD LUCK.
If that doesnt work, do some online troubleshooting for a bit or reinstall os, thats what I do..

So ive reinstalled video drivers, reinstalled tf2 but nothing helped. Accidentely changed lounch options from -windowed to -fullscreen and the drops ended. si if anyone has the same problem try to play in fullscreen mode. It may help you too. Thanks for everyone who tryed to help

Also I noticed I don’t quite have fps drops but I do have these ‘mouse lag’ issues, honestly the problem for me I feel is my Graphics are utter shite. Steam keeps updating, TF2 keeps updating but my Graphics can only do so much, I guess I have to upgrade to move on and maybe the same for you. I can only run stable 60 fps, how bad my PC is.

Check your launch options, if -high (or something similar can’t remember correctly) is there it causes input lag.
when i play in small maps. like cp_rage (its like turris) i have stable fps, but if i go on a pcw then the “fun” starts. The more updates they release the worse it gets. Valve understands word “update” differently than i do. Would fps cfg do any kind of change? im only using dx 81.
