TF2 keeps validating files.

So for the fourth time in the row now my steam is validating my TF2 files, nothing has changed in my TF2 yet it keeps on doing it every time I launch.
Is this a common bug and is there a way to fix it? Every time I let it finish it goes through it again.

use the search tool in the forums, there have been loads of topics about this in the last couple of months
i had this, i had to re-install tf2 to fix it. restoring tf2 from a back-up also works and is quicker :P
Make a backup of your config etc, then delete everything in the steamapps\yournamehere\team fortress 2\ folder
just manually validate and let it work till it sais done and lets u click the window
Here is a very simple way to fix, which I found through trial and error
1. Defrag until it is totally finished, do not stop until the finish text comes up (using in steam defrag)
2. If 1 doesn’t work (unlikely) delete everything in your steam folder bar steamapps and steam.exe (you wont lose your game dont worry)
3. Now defrag again
