Steam starts validating files when tf2 starts

Since an hour ago steam starts validating files everytime I start tf2, when it reaches 100% it just stays like that, I did not change any of my settings, except for validating game files yesterday.
Make a backup of your config and delete the entire team fortress 2 folder (but keep the gcf files!).

what u need to do is WAIT till it says finished (takes 5-20min) depending on ur hdd speed

I’ve had this before – I gave it 2 hours and it was still stuck at 100%.

then keep waiting :D
i had it for about a week, canceled on 100% and started playing tf2, but it kept coming up again every day… then did verify manually and went afk, when i came back it had “all files validated” window and ive never seen it again :P

its a bug – wait 10 minutes press close and your tf2 is ready to go
Guess my case was just different then. Obviously I pressed ‘close’ after waiting 2 hours, but that didn’t fix it for me :p
I had this last night. I thought it was because my laptop BSOD’d while TF2 was running before it (dodgy ram, just not got around to memtesting which stick is bad), but apparently not. I left it for 10mins, the validation eventually finished and downloaded a very small amount and then it was fine. Dunno what was going on.
