So for a very long time now my computer randomly crashes when playing games, and sometimes when I’m watching 720p movies.
I get the “The display driver has stopped working and has recovered” message the few times it actually recoveres, when not I have to manually restart the computer…
I get it when playing TF2 and in several BF games.
Here’s what my montor sometimes lookes when getting the error:

VGA, is that the cable from my motherboard/gfxcard to the monitor?
If yes, do you think I can buy a new cable and the problem gets fixed?

This often happens when your graphics card overheats.

you can also have memory or condensator faults, not allways related to gpu temp

It it hardware faults only?
Or do you think formatting can be an option?
Used to have this all the time on my 260, new card, running sweet now. Tried all sorts from reinstalls to changing registry keys.

only possible sollution might be to downlclock it, but for new card i cant see why not just get new one
yes its only hardware related, the artifacts on screen prove it
Last edited by AnimaL,
this happened to me before along with some pixels/artifacts, had to downclock the gpu about 100mhz and haven’t had the problem since
