I tried playing today and couldn’t get anything under 100 ping throughout the game, was really unplayable and choppy.
When I check speedtest I get really good results, so I really don’t know whats going on.

My game connection settings are:
cl_cmdrate 66
cl_interp 0.0152
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_pred_optimize 2
cl_smooth 0
cl_smoothtime 0.01
cl_updaterate 66
rate 60000
Can anyone help?

Using wired, no one was downloading afaik.. I thought it would show with those speeds. I checked the router and only 91mb downloaded in the last 3-4hours and its still laggy.

Go to Start > Run…
Type cmd and press Enter.
At the prompt, type tracert server ip > yourfilename.txt and hit enter.
Wait till it’s done.
Open the txt file located in Usersyourpcusernameyourfilename.txt and copypaste results here.

if u have w7, you should do this fix: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1043281&highlight=Multimedia+Class+Scheduler
Ping seems to have halfed now, but i’m guessing it will be just as bad tomorrow during peak time. Maybe it’s virgin media? I might give them a call. Also will have a look at that link, thanks.

From my experience with my routers/isp that first route is always the router, having 122ms to reach your router is plain stupid lol, double check if you have wireless on, and if its wired you might wanna try another router and see how it goes.

10.240.88.1 is the only hop in a private block, so it must be the router AND the modem. Indeed, 122ms is huge. Check your router isn’t overheating massively, and that the load averages aren’t massive.
If you are with VM you can check upstream power, using the hud page. Access it here: http://192.168.0.1 username admin password changeme, defaults. check your power. VM are terrible during peak in my experience.

What are load averages? :)

This has nothing to do with upstream, the problem has been shown to be at his router.
Happened again tonight, any help.
