Like I said gtx560 ti. Fairly cheap but really good performance.

This is flawed logic, since RAM will continue to decrease in expense.
No. RAM, in contrary to most PC parts change their prices up and down depending on exchange rates, supply and demand. VGAs and CPUs keep going down in prices because there is always a new architecture every half-year/year, first time DDR3 RAM architecture introduced was like 4 years ago, new RAM sticks and speeds are for enthusiasts and not concerning the market’s majority. Also producing a new RAM architecture will make the old ones go up in price and not go down, right now the RAM prices are pretty cheap so grabbing more RAM can be cheaper than getting them later. (May keep going down though, but its like gambling)

Yes, and I took this into consideration when I made that statement. Tell me, what is the predicted supply/demand for the coming years? What is the predicted raw material availability trend for the coming years, too?

No idea, thats why I said it can be gambling. But RAM sticks need money to be produced, and I doubt it can go cheaper than the way it is now, to me it looks like a close-to-minimum pricing, guess that was the lowest price DDR2 sticks ever reached which where I’ve put my assumption, but who knows..

Changed it up a bit as per your suggestions
Recommend me a good graphics card £200ish or have graphics cards become cheaper than they used to be?
i second 560 ti is baller mate awesome value for money.
why u kids arguing bout an extra 4gbs of ram its like £20 extra ofc get 8gb! unless ur conservative but it seems like ur budget is pretty flexible… £20 for an extra 4gbs sounds like a gd deal to me, on the other hand ofc u can always upgrade etc. etc. let us know what u get!

As everyone else has said, i5 2500K is best value for money atm. Get either 8gb gskill or 8gb corsair vengeance (4gb is sufficient, but ram is so cheap atm there’s no reason not to go 8gb).
As for the HDD, you want either a WD Caviar black or a samsung spinpoint f3. They both perform similarly so buy whichever is cheaper. Would not recommend any other hard drives tbh.
560 Ti and 6950’s are both excellent value for money, 6950’s tend to be a little bit more powerful however they run hotter/noisier in most of the models.

RAM prices go down, just like all other components. The process they’re made on gets ever smaller, so there is in fact new “architectures” (process shrinks) similar in steps to intels “ticks”. Essentially the ram analogy of intels tick tock model is more like Tock Tick Tick Tick Tick Tock Tick…. The reason the price change is so bumpy with RAM is because the RAM producers have a tendency to flood the market (look at the taiwanese manufacturers).

No need too buy 1600Mhz memories, you wont run them in 1600 anyway, and they have no performance increase, take the cheapest memories you can find. If they already are the cheapest then its okay :)
And if you dont want SLI you can go for the P8P67 instead of the PRO version.

Yes. This is why I paid 120,- for 2GB of my old ram instead of the 25,- I have to pay now…………………….

really whats the point in posting this? even if this is your opinion you havent backed it up with any thing and it dosnt relate to the existing conversation. The sad thing is you even went back to edit it….
I used 4 gigs before and found that occasionally I would use it all, however I think anything over 6gb is unnecessary at this point in time.
It really depends what you are going to do with the computer. If you have video editing programs, multiple browsers, tf2, startcraft and photoshop editing all at the same time, get 6gb, if only gaminng, 4gb.
TBH it would probably be better if you asked a pc building forum such as aria’s or overclocked gaming or whatever they are called. They will be able to give direct links to products and advice on compatability which is very necessary. (It would suck to realise your ram doesnt work with the mobo or something).

You’d be surprise.
High idle ram usage is usually because people have viruses in the background, or dont monitor what programs are running at startup. These kinds of poeple are usually the type who dont know too much about computers or are idiots.
