Weird Steam Bug...

Hey, this morning I logged into Steam and in my friends, where their names would normally be, there was no text, nothing saying what game they were playing or anything, so I un-installed Steam, re-downloaded it, and I’ve still got the same problem, doesn’t even show the text when I type, which makes it kinda hard.. So does anyone know a fix for it?
