Set up mx518 mouse

I had an insanely bad time with my explorer 3.0 due to bad negative accel which i had tried everything from various drivers, changing rates and buying a new one, nothing would work. I recently bought a mx518, which does not seem to have any problems, apart from it locks up if i move it at an insane speed (which i assume is normal, as mice can only read up to certain speeds).
What I need to know, is what is the best way to set it up for competitive play. I have seen on forums people agreeing and disagreeing whether to install the drivers, to increase mouserates, what rate to set it at, what dpi to use ect. I also heard there was prediction on it and was wondering if anyone knew where to get a good fix. I basically what you know, from a 518 user, what, if anything, he as done to his mouse to get the best accuracy and response time.
If you help, I will give you 10 internet points.
mx518 is safe at 500hz
1.install drivers
2.put setpoint controlled acceleration in driver CP
3.install accel fix
4.install refresh rate overrride

I don’t think you can fix it if it has prediction built in like that, unfortunately. I also remember hearing that it’s only on some of them and it isn’t really shown.

No that’s not normal, I assume thats the cord problem every mx518 has, it kept increasing till my mouse would lock up after every 1cm, and fixed it by cutting the “S” shaped cord and rewiring.

I installed the 4.80 drivers as i read the newest 6.0 drivers dont allow rate changing.
[EDIT] didnt see the link.
I changed my rate to 500 and it seems to be working fine.

Iv never heard of that before. What s shaped cord?
Thanks for the help, all i need to do now is practice not having negative acceleration! 10 internets for all.

Uninstall drivers
1.change the polling rate to 500 Hz or more ( i have it on 1000, but the dmir.exe shows its aproxm. 600/700 or so)
2.install cheese mouse fix ( way better than the cpl mouse fix)
3.get a good mousepad (say puretrak talent) + replace your old feet to say hyperglides or something simillar.
This made my aim go huge right after i did this.
I’m not completly sure, but you should keep in mind that changing dpi with the mouse buttons mght affect the Cheese mouse fix ( i just reinstall it if i change dpi). And i think without drivers it has the same dpi as has right after you install the drivers ( 1800 dpi on the 3d level)

Also use it on 400dpi mine tracks the fast movements loads better on 400 than 1800. Try it out but yea 500hz on 400 dpi and i cant physically make it lose trackimg throwing it round a 360
