Not to sound like chris, but you dont need 64 bit unless you have more than 4 gigs of ram. 32 can handle anything up to 4 gb.. If you only have 4gb ram, i would recommend 32 bit as more things seem to be compatible.
32bit xp can handle anything up to infinite, but it will still use only 3.2gb

I can stop my torrents of 32 and 64 bit xp now! (although reading up on it, it seems tf2 gets quite a boost in fps?)

yeah tf2 on xp is at least 10-20fps more than w7

don’t even bother, it varies greatly between systems and drivers. pointless to ask for fps figures.
where you will see benefit is entirely system dependent. ever since nvidia got their act together i see about +20 fps in tf2 using W7 over XP. so your mileage may vary, don’t put much weight to these random fps figures.

vista was better than w7 when i checked it some good year or two ago… but since chris sais some stuff has been updated, it now might be the same as w7
