Hey everyone,

This is gonna be a massive post describing my issues with TF2 that I’ve had for over a year now. I’ve even moved house, including internet providers and routers/modems that are switched while the issues still exist.

Describing the issue
For a long time now, I’ve had the issue of NOT having any servers show up while I’m looking for them in the server browser. Both in the regular server browser, or in the History/Spectate/Friends tabs. My internet works fine, and I know my friends are playing – it just never seems to show up ever. The only exception is about 5 seconds after I boot up my TF2.
For the past time, I’ve always joined the warservers through console, 5 seconds after I boot up my tf2, to prevent me from not getting in the server for multiple minutes. Seperate boots of tf2 do not reset the 5-second-timer, it happens every now and again.

Some extra info
I’m not an internet expert or anything, so I’m just gonna put down everything that might be useful for you hypernerds out there (no offense!) :P

If there’s anything else you need, just ask below ^^

The Solution
Up to you! I have no idea, and as I’ve had this issue for a long time now, it’s not really that annoying for competitive tf2. It becomes annoying though when I’m bored and I want to play on a public. Right now, I have to find that public’s IP online, join tf2 and immediately connect to it through console. If it’s full, I have to retry in 5 minutes. Blegh.

Big thanks already to everyone. I hope you guys have any ideas :)

… Have you tried to reinstall TF2/Steam?

WARHURYEAH

GlueEater

I get this all the time, really fucking annoying.

AnimaL

imo related to steam account switching and steam cloud

if im using only single acc on pc its fine, but as soon as i switch acc all server info gets fucked and i have to launch game before there are any servers on browser

Firewall? Ports? I dont even

ThePledge

@ Waebi – Yeah someone told me it might be a ports issue. I have no idea about that tbh :P
@ Daniel – Reinstalling didnt have any effect on it
@ AnimaL – I’m the only one who uses this computer, and I have for a long time. Does that not completely cancel out the possibility of it having anything to do with my issue?

Oh, and btw, I just deleted clientregistry.blob and verified game cache blabla to see if that helped. It didn’t.

Likely throttling at your gateway. Seen it before when mass queries take place.

If it is the same thing that I had then it’s an Issue with your Router.

I could only join through console and only if I hadn’t opened the Serverbrowser before that.

Apperently some Routers can’t handle that many connections and just lock up.

I bought a new one in the end.

If this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4487-YUOC-6922 doesn’t help you, I think you are out of luck.

I have the exact same problem and it’s rly starting to piss me off… I have 5-10seconds to find a server and connect to it and if it takes longer, then i have to reboot my router :s Trying Slate’s suggest now
