So yeah i had a problem where my motherboard couldn’t recognise my graphics card. Like couldn’t see it and therefore couldn’t update it or use it etc

So i returned it and got a new one sent out. Installed it today and after a bit of back and forth disabling the default VGA drivers it now see’s my card and i’ve updated using the catalyst control centre and it asks me to reboot for the updates to take affect.

Yet on reboot it blue screens and i have to restore to before the update. Reinstall the drivers and get stuck in the same loop.

I’ve tried a bios update and the graphics card in different slots

Motherboard: TA890FXE
Graphics Card: Radeon HD 5770

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Edit: Damn Ninjas. :P

:D

I second the idea that it might be a mobo issue, unfortunately. :(

If you really want to seek help here, I suggest you also post your Operating system, 32 or 64 bits, and some more system hardware information. Possibly even a hijack log. It helps alot :)

I’ve tried an older version of the catalyst control centre but no luck. Going to the library tomorrow to get a copy of the driver disk it came with as i have no cd/dvd drive as a last shot. I’ve even tried changing all the power cables lol.

other than that i’m stumped and my dad who is a bit of a tech geek has no other suggestions either.

Would there be anyway to confirm whether it is or isn’t a mobo issue?

If there’s no other option can anyone suggest a suitable replacement?

Processor is AMD Anth640
Graphics Card is Radeon HD 5770
Price is of the utmost importance as i have £200 until October :D

I really am the definition of noob here, you’ll have to help me out with what you need :D

OS is Windows7 32bit

did you plug in the 6 pin power connector :D

reset cmos, run bios in load fail safe defaults that should eliminate any self inflicted faults.

other than that, reseating you components can give surprising results on the odd occasion. i had a similar problem with my crossfire setup. i took everything apart, put it back together and has been running stable ever since.

i highly doubt you have managed to pick up 2 faulty cards on the trot.

oh and format

What’s the wattage of your power supply?

anything over 350/370w is fine,(with that rig) i doubt power is an issue

350 would be cutting it a bit fine, I’d say you want 450 to be sure.

Based on the information provided, I’d say it’s most likely a motherboard hardware issue, but PSU is also a possibility.

Urm as said before i am the definition of a noob, what’s a cmos reset and how to run bios in load fail safes?

I got the mobo same time as i got the graphics card and i wouldn’t be surprised at me getting 2 faulty parts at the same time :P

600w power supply so should be fine on that front

My friend suggested using driver sweeper. I did this then reinstalled the drivers i got from the install disk in safe mode and all seems fine. It recognises it and runs games fine now :)

Thanks for everyone’s help
