New (decent) mic

Here’s the deal, my current mic is one of those Zalman clip-on things, great, but picks up loads of background noise (such as birds outside with the windows open, not ideal)

Currently have a good pair of headphones, don’t really want to be spending money on another set with a mic attached

So I’m looking for a clip on/headset boom type mic which will pick up (at least for the most part) only the voice of whoever’s using it, with decent quality, and not attached to a pair of headphones already.

Primary use? LAN, if it’s not even worth bothering though and I should shout at people across the room instead, just say.

Secondary use is to replace my current one if it’s good/comfortable enough

“Not too expensive” is the price range, cheers in advance

;?

I’d say for somewhere as big as i-series(so fucking loud) you’ll need a mic, especially if you’re a main caller

.

it’s logitech desk mic, not USB one.

I did this: http://sl8.eu/files/headset1.jpg

Thats a Sennheiser HD595 with a Labtec -LVA-7330 attached to it (with velcro tape)

Labtec LVA-7330: http://www.amazon.com/Labtec-LVA7330-ClearVoice-Head-Microphone/dp/B00000JBRV

It’s just like a Headset now, as the moving parts of the mic remain intact, when you just saw off the thing that goes over the head.

This is more or less what I was looking for, I’ll probably go with something along the lines of this, thanks. How does it sound quality wise and background noise wise?

Just in case, anyone got any recommendations for a mic of the type in the quoted post above, or lavalier/clip on style mics, that would do the job just as well?

Quality is on par if not better than the built in mic on my previous Sennheiser PC160.
About the background noise, I never had anyone complain and when setting mumble on voice activation it only activates when i talk or I hit the mic by accident. Never had it activate from the typing or cars outside, nothing. Guess the foam around the mic really helps.

Shame that that mic appears to be discontinued, any others?

–Edit

Managed to pick one up on ebay, hard to come by though

Ah sorry didn’t get around to post anything, but i wouldn’t have known an alternative anyways.

Post some pictures when you’re done :)

Ah another thing, guess there are better methods of attaching it than velco tape, but I needed something removeable as i still have warranty on the headphones. It naturally seems a little “loose” with velcro tape, but does a good job anyways.

Yeah I plan to keep it removable as well, for if I ever move headphones… and the warranty of course :P

As for it being loose, just a case of getting as much on as possible I guess, I ordered a few squares which will hold 850g of weight, might need to cut them down a little, but they should be able to hold it steady
