TF2 crashes - HELP ME :(

Don’t think it’s related to the configs, at least directly. I’ve not changed anything, so Valve must have broke some shit if so. I’m not able to reproduce it, and I’ve heard of people not using my configs who have the same issue. It’s no doubt Valve’s fault once again.

Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t blaming or anything.
Since I didn’t know if it’s cfg or HUD shit, I downloaded a HUD ( been using the default one since always ) and so far it’s okay I think.. I downloaded Garm3n’s hud btw.

I deleted my resource and scripts files, launched tf2 to get new ‘default’ ones, then downloaded Toasty hud (random one a friend gave me) and now it’s not crashing anymore. :D

Was same problems for lot of ppl like year ago. And mat_q was solution.

Disabling Steam Overlay fixes this 100%.

Disabling it might have been the solution, not enabling it.

I had a crashing issue where my mat_q was set to 4. Setting it to -1 fixed the problem.

It’s not as if it sets itself to 4, since that is and never has been a valid value for it. Either you set it to 4, or someone whose config you are using set it to 4.
