Hey hey, my computer caught fire (yeah i know, that’s how shit hot i am)

So need a new one, the sooner the better
Have a budget of about £300 but the cheaper the better
I’m pretty sure i can salavage my hard drives, cd drive and the RAM so that stuff should be fine
I’ll need everything else though including case

Swarlz gave me this build:
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 @ 3.06 Ghz
GPU: ATi Radeon HD 5770 1GB or 6850 1GB or nVidia GTX 460 768MB/1GB.
PSU: A Good brand PSU, at least 550w (Corsair, Antec, OCZ, etc.)
RAM: 4GB PC-10666 DDR3 RAM
MBO: Any decent AM3 Motherboard with DDR3 support; the SLI-ready ones are usually great.
…HDD: At least 250GB for games, I recommend 500GB-1TB and make sure it’s 7200 RPM.

Any adjustments or alternative reccomendations would be helpful
I’m not that clued up on these things so i really wanna make sure they would all fit together right :D
Also where is the best place to buy these from? Money is cruicial here cos i want my money for other things :D

Any help would be sweet, much love

the gpu depends much on which games you wanna play at what resolution. if its only tf2 it will be cpu limited with any of these gpus.
550W is not needed if you buy a decent one. 400 is enough and will still be too much (just regarding cpu and gpu power consumption)
and why should sli boards be better than others? if you are not planning to set up a sli there is no need to get one.

An MSI AM3 board (eg. 870A-G54) will support Bulldozers when they come out with a bios update, so they are kinda future proof but won’t be able to OC much. This specific board is also able for Crossfire if you wanted to expand, but not SLI. With a resolution equals or > 1680×1050, you’ll need to grab that 6850 (Can’t recommend a 460 since the board is Xfire only). The CPU he recommended is good, if you can raise a bit higher for a Phenom II x4 945 or 925 it should be great as well. Grab cheap 2x2GB kingstons, 1333mhz wont differ much than 1600 unless you wanna OC, so get the 1333s. A Samsung HDD is also cheap and works pretty well. An Antec/HEC 450W PSU should be sufficient for this kind of setup, but if you are going to crossfire later, get the 550W.

Swarlz’s build looks pretty solid. You’d be as well getting like a 750/1TB HDD since they’re so fucking cheap (price diff between a 1TB and a 250GB is like ~£20).

edit: You mean Phenom II right? Not Athlon II?

I’ve got it down to £360, you might be able to cut a little bit off by getting a really cheapo case or a smaller HDD.
