More than usual! Wow. Didn’t think it was possible.
1. My router crashes and restarts itself randomly throughout the day AT LEAST 10 times a day and ever since my re-installation of Win7 very recently I haven’t been able to just leave it to reconnect and to make my PC (my Mum’s laptop is fine and reconnects straight after but that’s wireless) actually reconnect to the internet through it I need to unplug the power cable of the router and plug it back in. Even then sometimes it doesn’t work. I’m using an ethernet cable from upstairs to downstairs where the router is.

2. My internet speed rarely goes past 100kb/s and when it does manage to do that it’s capped at 420kb/s or somewhere around that. On SOME sites like mediafire I get inconsistent download speeds. Some files will download fine and fast and some will take hours to download 20 MB. It’s ridiculous.

3. I get around 75-80 ping at the lowest in any good server no matter where it’s situated.

I don’t have time to go through these steps with you, but they should point you in the right direction.

Try pinging your router, if you’re getting a high latency to it, probably indicates a problem with your router. If you get loss to it, it indicates either a problem with your patch cable or router (or if you have a switch in the way, the switch).

A lot of routers are just plain shit and restart a lot. I’ve worked with complex networks for years and have seen hardware that’s good on paper shitting all over the place. Usual cause is overheating, but sometimes it’s just that the hardware is just being shit.

You may want to check SNR/attenuation re: speeds. Maybe your line is unstable.

My internet issues are usually red.

Also a tl;dr for what Chris said; save yourself a lot of hassle and just buy a linksys router
