why are you getting a custom heatsink? save some money.
If you are running at stock speed then the stock cooler will be fine. Modern cpu’s don’t produce heat like they used to. and the stock coolers are better quality than they used to be.Also get a cheaper PSU. I would suggest 450-500 watt modular PSU is more than enough for this build. Your graphics card is not drawing a huge amount of power therefore the 600w is massive overkill basically.
Even if you upgrade to a massive single modern card a decent 500w will be enough. 600+ would be for running a pretty busy system and you are not running that much hardware (such as multiple hdd, sound card, multiple cd drives/ fans physx card)
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. Just when I thought I had it right :S

– Don’t you want a DVD drive?
– I’d get other fans if I were you. Not that these are bad, just that everything else you chose seems to be in stock. It would suck to have to wait because of those 2 fans.
– The side panel of that case supports 140mm fans. I don’t know where you wanted to place those 2 fans (1 in the rear, 1 in the sidepanel or 2 in the sidepanel), but for those you want in the sidepanel, get 140 mm ones. The bigger the better :)
– Those RAM modules look pretty fancy. If you aren’t planning on overclocking, you can probably go for a cheaper version.
– If your brother knows how this works, why the hell isn’t he helping you in the first place?

tl/dr:
I just pumped your system through it and added in a nvidia gtx580 2 cd/rw drives and 3 chassis fans and its come up recommending a 450watt minimum PSU. So save some cash!
now add any OC and ur easy over 500w
…with gtx580. Obviously if ur not going for a high end card, 500w would be enough for almost anything even with oc

1 – Forgot, thanks :DD
2 – They are in stock, just don’t have scansure. Easily done, I kept thinking they weren’t in stock too :p
3 – According to the specs of the case on scan, there are 3 x 120mm and 1 x 140mm bays. Fans included are 1 x 120mm and 1 x 140mm
4 – Those were genuinely the cheapest 8GB I could find on scan, that were 1600 and DDR3. Didn’t really want to go any lower than 1600, nor fork out extra for 2000 pre-OC’d, and I can allways OC later if I reeeeally want to.
5 – He’s a fucking perma-stoner so I can’t trust half of what he says. He also takes about 30 minutes to reply to anything I ask over steam, since he has uni coursework to hand in in about a week.

Won’t be getting a high-end card any time soon. I have an ATI 5500 atm I think, and it’s more than enough to run hon and TF2 on highish graphics, even with my shitty system atm. I could upgrade to something beefier later if I decide to play a more GPU-intensive game. This pc is mostly just cause I really badly need a new pc, this one is about 5 years old, 1GB RAM, Dual-Core processor @ 2.2 GHz (underclocked afaik) and the ATI 5500.
Q8 the other guys and I have the same case: good compromise quality/price ;)
you can simply put two 4gb sticks
those 8gb ones are rare cuz they usually are not sold as paired ones, since not many ppl would actually buy them
but buying two identical 4gb ram pieces would still work well, and it would be cheaper than getting 8gb 4gbx2 high end oc ram

well that was my whole point. destructor is a downs syndrome retard and cant overclock. and isn’t getting an insane graphics card. so why spend stupid money on a PSU. or a custom heatsink :P

If you don’t think a GTX580 is a high end card then you have a somewhat warped perspective on reality.
A decent 500watt PSU is fine.
Heres an alternative build: http://adamfindlay.co.uk/otherstuff/destructorpc.PNG
Shuffled about where the bulk of the money is being spent to get you a little more for your money. Buying cheap cases is really counter productive. You buy a case like ~£15 more expensive, and get like ~£30 worth of fans with it, plus much better cooling and a lot better build quality.
Also, admittedly that CPU cooler isn’t necessary, but its the same one I have and its worth it more for being quiet than anything else.

580 ‘not a high end card’, what the fuck is this shit

you can’t possible expect people on this forum to understand the English language do you?
to OP if you decide to buy intel, it’s a waste money to spend it on a non upgradable 1156 motherboard (if you ever intend to upgrade the processor/hdd to a sata drive), wait for the fixed sandybridge boards (b3 stepping) to appear in april
I’ll not list all the things lacking in the 1156 motherboards you can do that research yourself. But it is a dead platform

i have one of the current sandybridge boards and mine is fine, nothing wrong with it at all.

Yet
intel halts production and allows $700 million to cover replacements, all motherboard manufactures have a swap out/replacement policy.
As long as you ONLY use the sata 3 controller you’re fine – limited to 2 sata devices without a pic, but fine
