After a few people complaining about my mic during lobbies, I was wondering if I had spend too few money on my mic. But nevertheless when I’m in mumble mic is working perfect. So I suspect that TF2 has problems with cheap hardware. Is there mic bandwidth somewhere to be configured in cfg in TF2?
hmm i had that before – check if mic boost is enabled in tf2. it was for me and it made me sound really weird
I’ve had the same issue ever since I got a new computer that runs windows 7. My in-game voice is terrible but in mumble it’s perfectly fine.
What is the command to turn micboost off in your config? That might be worth a shot

Agreed. Any type of onboard sound I’ve ever used has produced a constant hum or buzz on the line-in for me. Now with an X-Fi everything’s crystal clear with a £5 Zalman clip-on mic.
