Very strong argument.
Router is sold to many people – many people are dumb – 90% of fail router reports are about a router that is sold to many people.
I’ve always had linksys routers and never had issues with them.

90% router problems topics have key word linksys in them
urbad. Never had ANY problem with my Linksys WAG200G.

Hate to break up this debate, but Rinta has a D-Link and I’d really like to play with our medic some time soon

I guess we’re all anxiously waiting to see if this helped at all;

Try adding “-port 27099” (without the quotes) to the launch options. If there’s someone else playing TF2 connected to the same router as you, you can’t both join the same server unless you use different ports. (27015 is the default port used by TF2 if no launch option is set).
(ps use +clientport instead of -port)
(pps im successfully running 2 simultaneous tf2 client instances behind my LINKSYS router without any hassle at all!)

I tried the port options (both +clientport and -port), not sure if they worked as intended but it didn’t help. Can I check somehow what happens to the packets sent/received by game client?
I don’t have a visible IP (like, there’s a single one for the whole lan of hundreds of users, if you know what I mean) and I connect to the internet through VPN. Although I’m prertty sure that noone from my local network plays on the same match servers as me (especially when these servers are empty).
Can it be that this IP is somehow banned from some servers for some reason?
How would it look?
Replacing router with pineapple would probably help, but I’ve got no pineapples atm, so any other ideas?
You have to think about what changed since you started having these problems, tf2 updates, drivers, hardware, router, etc.
Can also be ISP related, how is the connection without VPN on?
If nothing has changed in your end, it can be the VPN (dunno if you can admin it)
These same radom fails in connecting to servers happen when you are physically in the site, with no need to use VPN?
Hmm… here’s no internet for me without VPN, the lan is just one big VPN with a gateway looking outside. I’m not so good at all this network stuff, but that’s how I understand it. Sorry if I confused you.
Called my ISP, they told me that if ping/telnet to the server is ok then it’s not their problem.
I made no changes (at least consciously) to my PC lately except for Windows updates.

Your ISP is retarded.

Sort of, you’ve got the right idea but you’re looking at it wrong.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAT
You’re LAN is a seperate network entirely of its own, if you’re internet connection drops your LAN is not affected in any way. The gateway is a bridge between the 2 networks.

Yeah, that wikipedia page describes the thing.
So for me it is: My PC -> Router in my apartment (because there are several PCs) -> LAN with NAT -> Internets
Anyway I cannot “drop” internet connection. I’m granted it automatically when I’m connected to the lan. I can only disconnect from LAN, but then I’m disconnected from everything at once.

..but this isn’t soviet russia (geddit?), so the internet can still drop connection to you.
