siberia microphone not working

hey i just got my steelseries siberia v2 headphones, plugged them in correctly i think, i ca hear everything fine but my microphone doesn’t work, using windows 7 and in the sound options in playback it says microphones not plugged in help!?
and I guess the other one doesnt work aswell.
Any different computer around? where you can plug it in? Is there some mute function on the mic? ( normally I would have looked it up but imma at work atm :P)

If it’s jack based Windows can’t tell if you’ve got it plugged in or not (it ignores the relevant ACPI event unless ACPI triggers a switch in output port), so you’re probably looking at the wrong device.
Install the latest drivers for your sound card they usually come with extra compatability/software that can help detect your Mic. I use Sibera’s on w7. Try going into mumble and use the setup function to test if you can hear yourself, do this each time with a different “input” from the drop down menu to see which works, if no luck try the other pink port and then the mumble test again.

well the devices for recording are only my stereo mix thingy, it says the microphone isn’t plugged in

Right click and show disabled and disconnected devices.
