2x TF2 on the same connection

Getting fed up of being disconnected when my Brother plays TF2 on his computer.
Basically my game D/C’s every time he connects to a TF2 server, after that I can’t connect to any TF2/Source game Servers. But my net stays up, no lag in mumble or anything etc.
He is wired directly into the router and I’m on wireless in a DMZ. On 50mbit Virgin Media connection – so it’s not like the net can’t handle it.

Plz hlp :)
This might be a silly question, but is he using your steam account? (or vice versa)
Try out what happens when done the other way around ( your brother plays and you join a server after that).
If this still keeps you from playing it might be an issue with QoS or weird exclusive port forwarding.
Try to reset your router settings or just clean them up.
What you really should do is kick your brother in the crotch every time he tries to play tf2 when you are playing.
After a week or so this problem should be resolved.
dotfloat speaks the truth…
also I had this problem when other family members were on the internet on the same router. Getting a switch fixed it, dont know if that would work with your issue.

Are you sure it was switch? As in just a bog-standard unmanaged switch? There is absolutely no reason by any logic of networking that would make a difference. :s

Start up TF2 with -clientport 27016 in the launch options one on of the computers (not both).
Almost certain that will fix it.

if that doesn’t try changing yourself and him from DMZ to auto-assigned (DHPC) and see if that changes anything.
dmz? why?
last time when i was trying some networking software and have put my ip in dmz and had similar problem (one of my house mates plays a lot of tf2 and usually at same time as me). when I have disabled the dmz, the problem disappeared however i never understood how could it affect connection to tf2 server (as far as i know dmz should be the issue solver – not the issue, but rather extreme solution)
try restoring defaults on your router (make sure to backup the setings) and use automatic dhcp addresses. I’ll say it again: I don’t think it should fix anything (not in networking terms) but it did for me.
