Our demoman that is madding atm won’t make a post so i shall on behalf of him.
Basically when he tried to boot up TF2 he gets the message shown in topic, he has tried everything here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4595-WEXN-6831&l=english
Does anyone have any solutions for my raging dutchman?
You could always try a complete restore from GCF.
Back up what you want (demos and cfg, I guess) and then delete the whole team fortress 2 (not just tf) folder. When you next try to relaunch the game it will unpack it from the GCFs.
is he using wireless, as weak signal can cause that error as well, or it used to when i used to have wireless. it’s like your fully connected to the net, and can use chat programs, inc steam, msn, etc, but the signal is so weak it can’t actually download properly and won’t connect to steam cloud and can’t sync up properly and then thinks your offline and says it’s unavailable.
i used to have this problem with L4D when it was originally released. Hopefully this isn’t the issue though because it’s very hit and miss and you can’t do much of anything about it apart from getting a better connection. I managed to fix it by buying this device that makes your plug socket into a network so that you can plug an ethernet wire into it. It gives you a little bit of choke and gives you a fake high ping, but it works better than wireless.
I will try and get info from him, atm he’s rage quitting TF2 because of this.

If that fixes it then the client is seriously retarded and just needs a good kicking — you might as well delete the client content GCF since it’s tiny and deleting it would have exactly the same effect.
The Steam client isn’t that retarded, so once again, nope.avi.

format C: or deleting system32.dll tend to do the trick I hear.
[bam ninja edit]
You need to delete the whole folder.
