Mic won't work ingame

Someone has probably made a post about this before, but I’m doing it anyway out of pure frustration.
Basically, my microphone won’t work in any other programs when it is being used by mumble. Which means it won’t work ingame or in any other programs. If anyone has a clue as to why or how to fix it (if it is possible, I’ve been told its a windows 7 problem), any suggestions would be nice.
And don’t you dare post in this thread djc.
edit: Oh and this was not an issue with my previous mic on the same windows 7 setup

Nevermind, fixed.
Control panel > Sound > Recording > whatevermicyouhave > Properties > Advanced > uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”
