Hmm, well maybe there’s sth else wrong. I just changed my avatar, will see what it looks like tomorrow.
I changed my avatar as advised a few days ago on steam – still got these little ducks.
i had this problem too.
i tried reuploading my avatar. i had that avatar already set in steam, and just reuploaded it. nothing happend on etf2l.
then i uploaded a different one and it changed. after it got changed, i uploaded the avatar i wanted to have, which didnt update.
So if you have the avatar already set in steam and want that one to be shown here, but another one is shown here on etf2l, you have to:
first upload a different one (i just chose a standard steam one)
then wait to have it changed here
and after it got changed upload the avatar you had.

yeah i uploaded one but didn’t wait for it to change here as i don’t really want a diff one on steam :D. seems a bit of a big work around though with alot of messing around to do it that way, well… alot compared to the usual just sitting back and watching it work for u ;)

Yes. I’ll spare you the reason why, but if you upload a new avatar on steampowered (just re-upload the same one you’re using on there now), it will be re-synced.
It does for players, but not for teams.
My new avatar worked for a while but then the site started to use my old avatar, though I hadn’t changed it.
Also my team’s avatar doesn’t work. And some of my team members (and apparently many other users here) have just a white screen as their avatar.
Sorry for the infinite repetition of “avatar”

Alright mine updated last night, so I’ll explain what I did.
Change your avatar to a COMPLETELY new one (one that you have never used before on etf2l). Wait until the next morning. ctrl+f5 your etf2l profile, and you should have your new avatar.
Now if you want to go back to a previous avatar (such as the one you had before etf2l moved hosts), just repeat but with that avatar.
I don’t know why you have to upload a completely new avatar first, but uploading my old one first just didn’t work for me.
OK,
technical explanation: let’s say a few weeks back you had avatar A, at that time we moved all avatars and images over to this new server.
After that, you changed your steam avatar to B, so it got updated on the old server.
Then, last week we moved the database over, and everything else. SO we had a new database (B), with old images (A).
Now the way we retrieve new avatars is the following: Your steam avatar has a certain hash on steampowered.com, if you upload another one, the hash changes. We have your image on file, and the hash of that image in our DB. Every night, we get everyone’s image hash on steampowered. If it differs from the one we have in our DB, we download the new image. Now, with the DB being fresh from the old server (having the hash of avatar B), the script things that we’re having the new image (so it doesn’t re-download), while we don’t (We still have avatar A on file).
Now, re-uploading your image to steampowered doesn’t work, because the hash stays the same if you upload the exact same image, so that’s why some people figured out changing their avatar, and then changing it back the day after works for them (The script runs once every night).
To fix this, we’ll probably remove all hashes, forcing the script to re-download all avatars.
easy explanation: We fucked up, just wait a few days and we’ll fix it. If you don’t want to wait, change your current avatar A to avatar B now on steampowered.com, and change it back to A tomorrow.
kewl, i can wait until it goes though the system and is fixed that way, i not overly fussed if i have this avatar a while longer as i’m still in the cic community :) not like i have nothing to do with them, but would obviously prefer my brand spanking new one ;)
glad to see your doing the auto way of doing things as well, cos i can imagine it’ll be a real ball ache to get everyone to change their avatars to something else and back again just t get stuff looking right :D
still broken for me :D
both my team avatars (highlander and 6v6) has been changed to a fully new one(even tried diff group) and etf2l isnt picking it up (ive waited a few days but still nothing :()

Same for me but thanks for the explanations it makes some sense. I will change my avatar on steam.
Hopefully this will be fixed overnight, so you should see your correct avatars tomorrow.
OK it looks like the player avatars are fixed, can people confirm if they’re still having problems with the team avatars or not?
