Khaled likes to remind us from time to time that we’re stealing his 15 year old piece of software.
irc != irc client
I support Chris’ idea – there a plenty of nice irc clients beside mirc.

You could always pay for a piece of software that you have used everyday for X years.
I love mIRC, been using it for a decade now.
Bought it about 5 years ago and was very disappointed that the key they sent me was the exact same as the one generated by a keygen :P
irssi all the way.
EDIT:

alternatively use xchat, which isn’t shit and doesn’t have a nag screen
Just wanted to note that xchat for windows costs $$$, and has a 30 day trial.
I personally used ChatZilla, and It was ok.

mirc is fine, it will take you 5 minutes to download two tools and crack the nag screen by editing a few files. I think there’s even a youtube video to show you how.

Just wanted to note that the source code of x-chat is free and there are good inofficial builds out there, e.g. http://www.silverex.org/news/ :)

That’s what I was talking about, as I mentioned to dotfloat over IRC :)
