I’ve been saving for a laptop for a while now, and now ive got enough money, but im stuck on whatl to buy.
I want it mainly for watching films on, but also to do schoolwork etc, and for it to be small so it isnt annoying to carry around everywhere.
Any suggestions that you have would be very much appreciated :D
What I’m looking for:
Under £500 (can go slightly over but would prefer not to :D)
Screen size somewhere between 12 and 16 inches
under 2.5kg in weight
Preferably not windows vista
I’ve been looking at this, http://search.laptopsdirect.co.uk/search?w=HP%20Compaq%20610%20Laptop%20with%20Windows%207, but i want to know what else is out there as well :D
Anything else you need to know just ask :D And thanks in advance for any help :D

You should buy 1 of those sony vaio
cheapest vaio u should go for: http://www.atlantic2u.com/store/viewproduct.asp?idproduct=109812
but price + performance is off the topic :D
dont have an actual link…
But from my experience and what i’ve been told from others. 12″ is quite small specially the keyboard. which can be annoying to work at if u have to write for a long time.
16″ gets quite heavy.
i use a 15.4″ laptop for school work right now… and i like it. :)
Asus UL30A-QX131V if you’re ok with spending ~£560
What he said!
If you are going to carry it around to school etc get the smallest size you feel comfortable with. Most people get a too big one the first time, then they are stuck with it until they buy a smaller one a few years after. My experience from university is that most people get a big (15 inch usually) laptop the first time before switching to a smaller one.
Not only is a smaller laptop better for carrying around, it also make it easier to comfortably have both your laptop and school books, notes, whatever up at the same time in the often limited space you have whenever you are not at home.
For watching movies: you will be sitting so close to your laptop that having a small screen won’t really matter.
I’ve been using a Lifebook S6410 (13,3 inches, 1,7kg) for the past year and a half and I’m very happy with it. Small enough to carry around to comfortably use wherever while still having enough screen real estate to work fairly efficiently. I use my laptop both for coding and writing and I’ve never had a problem with the keyboard size.
If you plan to bring the laptop to/from school I’d suggest you get a good laptop backpack (The ones with a padded laptop container at the back of it).
The dell studio 15 is under 500 atm and it’s got a 4570 inside so you can play tf2 :D
you can get it direct from them cheap
