Is it worth to spend money on?
Is it really better perfermance wise , and in general – better than vista?
Any downsides to windows 7 that you know of?
Does it improve performance in games , especially tf2? (someone told me)

If you have XP, yes, Vista, not really unless you really hate it :P

Yes, slightly better than Vista (SP1 and above)

Very old games and programs might not work (for example 16-bit), otherwise you should be fine as Vista drivers usually work for Win7

Not so much TF2, but in newer games most certainly
If you were to buy a new system though you would be stupid not to get Windows 7, and equally retarded if you get the 32-bit version

1, Depends what are you upgrading from, and what you are upgrading
2, Depends on your rig, if you had loads of RAM (4GB+), and a fast CPU, minimal to no performance increase
3, None over Vista
4, Rig dependant

Really liking 7 so far, it feels nice to have a fresh install of a “modern” OS.
Have used XP for long enough, RIP! Don’t really have anything constructive, but go for it if your hardware gets along.
i’m tempted to upgrade from vista but the price is putting me off. i’ve really had no complaints with vista but i’ve only been using it for 6 months or so, so i missed the pre-SP1 performance and quibbles.
absolutely love win7. I never used vista so not sure if its that much of a difference.

win7 has bugs, vista is slower… ur choice
wouldnt get win7 yet if u got SB… (main reason why went back to vista)

Has been the exact opposite for me so far :P
I decided to upgrade my windows xp to windows 7 64 bit and I am a very satisfied customer.
I hated vista and in windows 7 you can disable all the shit that used to ruin vista: you can custom various stuff so if anything doesnt perform too well with your hardware you can scale a lot.
Also, I get great performances into videogames which is the important.
If you observe the task manager, you might notice some weird “extra cpu work” when you move anything on the desktop which is simply due to the windows air or however the hell its called… the pretty interface.
Win7 > XP > Vista

Win7 is better, Vista is sooo bad, you just don’t realise it atm because you’ve using it for a while. Im not a zealot at all (heck, im typing this from my ubuntu laptop) but windows 7 is so worth upgrading to.

Theres far too many “what ifs” to conclude that from merely 2 people, especially when theres already 2 people here who will contradict it.

Windows 7 is awesome, that is all.
Agreed, although just had to budge up my ram a bit for it.
cant work out why, but windows 7 has killed my download speed and upped my ping drastically – i used to get around 4 meg download now im lucky to get half a meg, ping wise i used to get around 20-40 on UK servers now i get 50-60 and its just unplayable on german servers
i have done some research on this and i dont seem to be the only one with the same problem.
apart from that – windows 7 is indeed awesome
ps. this isnt a problem with my router/connection – my brothers and dads is fine as mine was before i had win7
