Hey,
So my friend is having trouble connecting to steam, his University have it blocked, proxy stuff. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem?
Anybody know anyway around it?

he is living without, he’s not too pushed, but would obviously like to have it..
I’m sure this affects a lot of people… but do what you can there, talk to the administrators/ student societies and ask for resolutions.
Fortunately for me our administrators aren’t idiots and play the games themselves, so fun fun.

There’s not really a way around it, you just gotta go ask for the ports or whatever’s being blocked to be removed.

No as Bury and Dynames have said, the only way to fix it is really going to be to ask them why its blocked. If its something like websense, then gg, its not going to happen. Beyond that, there is ways of getting around it but nothing thats going to give a playable ping for gaming.
If it’s Trinity, they’re pricks and won’t open ports necessary for Steam. If it’s UCD, then I haven’t a clue. GL!
Ask the admins nicely to unblock them, also if he’s got any mates in a games course get them to say they need to use the Steam SDK or some bullshit.
If that fails start tunnelling like a moooooooole
