Not sure if this is what you’re looking for or if it’s too basic but I posted this quite some time ago on the HH forums.
The four biggest euro-leagues that come to mind are:
– http://etf2l.org ETF2L (6v6 league and all kinds of cups, etc)
– http://www.enemydown.co.uk EnemyDown (6v6, arena, etc)
– http://tf2.wireplay.co.uk/league/ WirePlay (6v6 & 7v7 leagues)
– http://www.esl.eu/ ESL (6v6 ladders and league)Then there’s IRC, all channels on irc.quakenet.org:6667
– #tf.wars (for organizing PCW’s, finding mercs, etc)
– #mpuktf2.pickup (for organized mixes)
– #mixmercs (finding mercs [duh])That’s pretty much everything you need to get started right there; if you’re really new, play a few pickups (quality varies of course but its good fun when you have some teamwork and a decent matchup- keep at it), meet new people and maybe join a clan if you don’t have friends playing TF2.*
You can also look for a clan/members on most leagues’ forums. As a few general rules:
– Have Ventrilo, TeamSpeak and http://mumble.sourceforge.net/Main_Page Mumble installed at all times. You will need them, might as well save others some time.
– Communicate alot ingame (no mindless babbling, call what you see/kill/hurt)
– Be friendly & helpful
– Don’t rage at other players (esp. while the game is still in progress)*Don’t commit to a clan unless you can play at least 2-3 times a week for 2 hours a night imo, nothing’s more frustrating than people that aren’t reliable and there.
That’s all I can think of off the top of my head but I think it’s good enough as a quick start.
Please feel free to add stuff.
If you’re looking for an intro to how classes are played in comp tf2, this of course is completely useless. Übercharged.net?

The problem with asking about classes in competitive TF2 in europe is that its really far too complicated to put in any wall of text, you just learn it through experience. You can pretty much work set out what happens until both teams are at middle point, but beyond that its just far too complicated and there is wayyy too many “what if”‘s to really explain it all.
My advice, just pick the class you enjoy most and play it in pickups. You’ll start off getting whined at I guarentee, but just take it constructively and you’ll improve quickly. Heres a quick overview through of the classes:
Scout/Sniper:
Normally you’ll find someone will play scout and occasionally switch to Sniper. You should just not have someone run as sniper 100% of the time (unless its DCSB your talking about but thats another arguement. :P )
Soldier:
You normally run 2 soldiers on a team. Usually with 1 soldier playing agressive and the other sticking back a little with the medic. Of course good soldiers will swap these roles constantly and manage it between themselves.
Demoman:
There is only 1 demo on a team, if you ever come across a team who isn’t running a demo, just leave them as your totally wasting your time. Demo is bassically all about being able to get to middle point VERY quickly (with the help of sticky jumps) and then spamming the other team to pieces. Obviously theres alot more skill in it than that but as I say, what goes on after that you can’t really explain in text.
Medic:
As with demoman, your only allowed 1 and if you come across a team not running a medic 100% of the time, leave them immediately. Medic is probably the most important person on the team in that if your medic goes down, you’ve likely just lost a capture point. Medic is in itself quite difficult to play for a beginner as its much more to do with game sense and understanding whats going on than just healing people as it appears to be.
Pyro/Engineer/Heavy/Spy:
These classes will have one off uses but its never a good idea to run any of these classes for more than one life. For example with spy, you may be able to get the medic down and someone else if your lucky but i guarentee you unless the other team has absolutely no comms then its probably the only backstab your going to get that whole match.
