James May’s videos can help!

Quit yo Jibba Jabba fool

Most common thing to cause this sort of thing is a damaged CPU or the RAM (read: broken, not properly pushed in, etc,,,). Motherboard being damaged it also possible but follow Occams Razor first.

Oh yeah ive noticed that 2 red lights are shining on my graphic card… ive looked it up nd it means that it is 1:overheating (wich is impossible) or EXT 12V fault… i just dont hope this means a new graphic card (what it possible will)

If its anything like the 4870 it needs two power plugs, are both plugged in? If so maybe try a different cable?

ambra

i had my pc not “starting” like that but i found out 1 ram board wasnt PERFECTLY into the slot and then it fixed it…

Contra

eon: it only has one power plug

ambra: ram is put in fine

i guess that its just my graphic card cause of the lights… i dont know what to do because nobody has a pc where im now (im in a student home with 5 girls so…) so i cant verify if its rlly the graphic card :s

contra, had the EXACT same problem as you. Resetting your cmos should fix it. To do this, look on your mobo for the battery (its circular and can be removed), remove it, count to 5 and then replace it. It should now work. make sure you redo your bios settings as well ^_^.

Also make sure youve installed an operating system on your mobo

EDIT: just read all the posts, make sure your PSU is up to the job, if not i recommend the corsair 650 or 750?W, one of the best PSU’s out there atm, and fairly cheap.

PSU is a Corsair 550 n0va, he mentioned it earlier, and it’s got plenty of power for that setup.
Don’t forget to actually unplug the PSU if you reset the CMOS.

yeah, i noticed that after i poster, he reset the cmos and it didn’t work, and the only thing i think thats wrong is the PSU isn’t cut for the job, hence why i suggested a different one. If it’s not the PSU I have never seen this problem before and idk what you can do then :@

/facepalm

I pray for the day when people start realising 500watt is ample for 98% of computers. A Corsair VX450 would run that PC no problem. As long as its a quality brand PSU, 500watt is fine.

And anyway, It would still post.

It sounds to me like a RAM problem or a dead GFX card, does the GFX fan run 100% speed when its on?

Assuming you are not a girl yourself:

1: Sell your PC
2: Use the money to pay for a party
3: ???
4: Profit

Uhu sometimes it just starts up normally (nothing appearing on the screen still) but then after 5 sec it shuts itself down and then goes back on and the fan is going like crazy

Hmm… okay, its definately not the GFX then (if it was, that would happen 100% of the time).

Im still thinking RAM…

Sounds like the graphiccard…try a different 6pin from the PSU to the graphic card. Otherwise some part may be broken…

Or have you used the 2x MOLEX to 6pin adapter that comes with the 4850 and just put one of the MOLEX in the adapter? It thats the case put both in :)

Might also be the ram, try to take one of the DIMMS out and try with one, and switch to the other if it doesn’t help.

Have you plugged in the 4pin on the left upper side of the motherboard? (Might be 8pin on that motherboard, 4pin should do the trick anyway thought.)
