i most likely cant go, havnt got enough days left of flexitime plus i have to keep 3 for christmas encase a server goes down…again. AllStar to i38!
We were planning to go, but I don’t think we’re actually going to have all of our team there. Which is a big disappointment :(
“£1,500 for the top 8 teams in our Team Fortress 2 tournament.”
So 8 teams get 1 and a half grand?
I assume it means the total pot is 1,500 shared between 8 of the top teams…?

Less prize money than I was hoping for :/
Oh well, we might still go. Will know soon.

No mikuu i insist you must sleep next to me again like TCL, except this time we wont be surrounded by Admirables vomit :-(.
So TF2 has a maximum prize fund of up to £2.5k? It says CS:S has a minimum prize fund of 2.5k while they search for more contributions. Couldn’t TF2 get more contributions?
I mean, if we get 64 teams signed up, that’s a guaranteed 384 places out of 1500 taken by TF2 players (minimum). That’s a revenue of £38,400 purely from TF2 competing players to multiplay. 384/1500 = 26% of the LAN being TF2 players.
Assuming all those TF2 players watch the final on the main stage, plus another 116 from other games (for arguements sake). That’s 500 LIVE spectators. Not to mention the people watching from Source TV. If the final was CC v Dignitas v TCM v Vale v DCSB :DDDDDDD I’m sure there would be close to 1000 online spectators.
Thats a shite load! Sponsors should be begging to get in on the action?
We need to sell this more biatches
I’m going aswell
We should get a box for all tf2 players!
Shouldn’t even necessarily have anything to do with sponsors. Just a total ballocks criteria they’ve given. £1500 minimum but only £1k more if 64 teams show up? The difference in revenue from ticket sales between say 6 teams signing up and 64 is absolutely staggering.
There is practically no realistic incentive here to try and push for as many teams as possible, relative to the impact it would have on prize pool. Getting 64 teams to attend is a rediculously high bar to set, I’d go as far as to say completely insurmountable for a community the size of TF2.
If they had any sense, they would scale the prize pool linearly in proportion to the number of teams signed up so that with each extra team the prize pool would grow bigger.
Better yet, have incremental steps which after being passed, the prize pool is increased, either by a lump sum or by percentages. As an example using random generic values, could be first 10 teams signed up, 5% of total ticket sales for TF2 added to minimum prize pool. After 15 teams it becomes 7% including the 15 teams already added. After 25 teams, 10% including those added.
With incremental steps there are always threshold targets which are close enough and realistically achievable to incentivise the community to get as many teams attending as possible. The way multiplay have done this just bears no thought, blatantly they’ve just decided that its £1.5k max for TF2 then set a massively unrealistic threshold that they know will never be hit, and even if it was, only £1k extra???
