Hey all,
Uni is starting soon, and my MacBook is pretty much dead now (screen is fucked, case is falling off, power supply melted, et cetra :P) so I’m on the hunt for a new laptop. My requirements:
13/14″ – Matte finish if possible
Very light (the lighter the better) and cool running – I really do plan to use this as a laptop.
Under £800, ideally £700 max
I don’t need it for gaming – 160gb hard drive and 2-4gb of RAM is ample for my needs.
So, any ideas?
Cycles as your mentor and friend dont get a mother fucking dell :P
Seriously they do your mum when your not looking :
You can rest assure, I will not touch Dell :)
Current options are:
Acer Aspire Timeline 4810T
Samsung X460
HP Pavilion dv2699 — if it didn’t look like shit

haha, that’s better than my laptop which I use for gaming… :/ (It’s a dell, it overheats, yay!)

I had to buy a laptop due to moving to Uni last year… and its great, and its not really a ‘gaming laptop’ It’s a dell and its never overheated for me! No complaints with it at all
xD
If you go Packard Bell ill rage :P
My brother had one and the power port broke, in the end we had to pay like about £500 all together…
Just dont buy from Currys or whatever tis called now :P

I got one of these for my old Gen2 XPS laptop, that thing used to overheat like crazy.

I think the thing here is that if your used to a macbook, your always going to hate pretty much anything else.
However if you’ve realised how stupidly overpriced macbooks are for something that isn’t actually all that much better, look at the Dell Vostro series. Ive got a Vostro 1400. It cost me £400 from http://www.ndc.co.uk more than a year ago now.
T7500 (2GHz C2D that is)
2GB RAM
160GB HDD (although im considering upgrading it)
Geforce 8400
14″ Matte Screen
6 Cell battery and it’ll easily get about 3.5hours if you fiddle with the power settings a bit (running Windows 7).
Build quality is fantastic and I use it daily.
Add me on steam if you have anymore Q’s.
:)
