fps help !

Hi guys my pc took a turn for the worst recently with BSOD’s and random crashes, sluggishness etc.
my gpu and memory both had died.
I have replaced the memory and my 8800gt is covered by 2 year warranty. But will take a month till I get it back. I have been loaned a 9600gso 512 to cover the period. I was told it should be on par with my 8800gt … hah !! no chance …
I am curious what is the most demanding settings so I can just lower them. I hate fps configs and wont touch them unless 100% needed. I have played about a little and have stopped using windowed mode.
I run the game at 1440×900 adn most settings are on high. I have no idea which to lower to get more out of the game. I have an lcd to so provided I can get constant 60 fps im happy.
On that res, just make sure AA is off, HDR is off and put it on biliniar (sp!) filtering instead of triliniar(sp!!) and if you still get low fps, textures / model detail to low. Not really hard to work out
no I am well aware of that however have you tried playing bball without AA ? the fence looks like shit lol.

As if TF2 uses GPU.
do fps cfg with mat_antialias 8 (or 4)

heh I have seen some fps configs and I seriously cannot see how you guys can play like that. It hurts my eyes :(
I also dont understand why my game doesnt run as good with this gpu, but then I know very little about pc’s anyway.

With TF2 it is mainly about your CPU but having a good GPU helps.
well as said it worked fine before. I have an E8400 and as far as I know it should run tf2 no sweat.
