There seems to be loads of different opinions on if this game will be good. I know NS1 lost many players to TF2 and from what i can tell some are thinking of making a return in NS2. Ive been talking with a few guys on my freinds list about if TF2 will suffer after release and theres people on both sides. Some are thinking of getting a headstart and leaving now as they think TF2 will die and others think that it will have very little effect at all. Im not too sure so i thought id get the wider opinion :)
I think in reality not many players came from NS percentage wise, but the players that did are the more skilled players (except gibbz :>). So it would effect tf2 in that way.
NS2 is completely different to tf2 and any other game so im not sure how many other current tf2 only players it will attract.
TF2 draws people in because of it’s “light-hearted” seeming. I doubt NS2 will offer the same appeal to that. I expect some will switch but I can’t see it harming the community that much.
My computer would probably fail to run it so looks like i’m sticking with TF2 :p
From what ive seen NS players (mostly) have bloody good aim and are pretty smart (from the few people ive seen from NS)
Personally I think TF2 wont suffer to badly as Tappers said…
Can’t wait for NS2 though, looks very interesting :> But as with all gamesi have no idea if it will live up to the hype or not.
Also looking forward to MW2 and Diablo 3 :> so looking to me that I’m gonna be busy :D
… and Diablo 3 …
I doubt any of us will live ’till then. Maybe our granchildren will play it? Although doubtfull..
NS2 will be a very different game from the cruel mistress that was NS.
The jury is still out on whether it will be worth quitting TF2 for, but I’ll definitely be supporting the game and giving some attention to the beta testing process.
I know ENSL will be ready to hit the ground running, but I am sceptical that competitive NS2 can receive the same level of sponsorship and interest from MGOs etc that TF2 has.

NS was pretty much dead when TF2 was released so it (tf) definitely didn’t draw away players.
NS2 will be interesting. Will always be nice to have another competitive FPS out there that isn’t Halo 6 or CoD 17.
NS is a great game, in my eyes easily the best game for gameplay. Pity about the cosmetics and scene.
But NS2 will be very different and there are some aspects the team is adding which sound very scary and worry the experienced competetive players. But still, like TFC -> TF2, NS2 could be a great success. Atm I’m thinking it’s going to 50% be awesome of 50% flop.
Atleast NS2 will have completely different gameplay to all the other big competetive games (CoD4, CSS ect…).
NS2 will be one of those new games to experience, it will be far different from any game out there and will be updated constantly to keep the balance. I personally think it will take a while to meet the success of NS in terms of balance, but I’m sure that would be sped up by the players in alpha/beta and players who continously play the game.
I very much doubt the competetive scene will grow to be huge, because much like NS, it takes a while to understand the game, and people don’t like change or aren’t interested in having to learn over and over; not to mention, the different ways of use between aliens differs alot more than that of from a scout to a heavy. (if you get what I mean :P)
No doubt it will have more players though, I just think it will be one of those awesome public games and a great change to relax from other games. With the new system of modifications on weapons and such, it will take a while for a stable competetive set up, and game play will differ on every server… Depends if [ABLE] is there though… :P
But as GibbZ said, NS is by far the best game I have played due to its unique play style, having a mix of FPS and RTS makes it a game that requires strategic intellegence and perseverance.
its the shit
