I always thought optical<laser.

Laser has trouble tracking superfast movement iirc. At least a test from a couple of years (around G5 intro) ago showed that, don’t know how it is now.

I have read that you should use windows default and ingame sens 1 to get rid of all kinds of “interpolation”.
I don’t exactly know what “interpolation” here means, but I suppose it has to do with some kind of smoothing of the mouse movements.

Right now I am using sens 3.0 on a 1600DPI mouse and this is the lowest sens I have ever used. If i were to use ingame sens 1 and get the same feeling ingame I would need to have a mouse with 3*1600=4800DPI, right ?
However, this is more DPI than any existing mouse on the market can produce as far as I know.
I only know about two mice with 4000 DPI and that is the Razer Lachesis and the Gigabyte GM-M8000.

As far as I know ingame sensitivity is just arbitrary degree of rotation in the game world per mouse count , so setting it to something other than 1 will not cause interpolation. Although the steelseries ikari laser marketing speel disagrees with me , this could just be to sell the adjustable in increments of 1 dpi feature.

The new line of sidewinder mice is pretty interesting too, I’d definitely consider the X8, especially since cost is of no matter to you. I played with the previous sidewinder mouse for a year and the shape is just perfect for me.
If you’re still in Vienna, the Saturn on the Mariahilfer Straße has most gaming mice on display, so you can go try em out there. I’d just buy whatever mouse fits your hand best and has a decent sensor.
Also, I’ve only heard good things about the Roccat Kone, so you might wanna think about that one too, as it certainly is among the most technically advanced mice on the market.
The Gigabyte Mouse is indeed interesting, but judging from the pics I’ve seen so far its shape isn’t likely to fit many people. I haven’t held it in my hand though yet.

Lol, I actually just visited that Saturn Store on Mariahilfer Strasse. They also have quite a lot of mice at the Saturn in the Millenium city that I tried.
Yes, the Sidewinder X8 seems like a nice mouse with high DPI and decent scape. It is wireless however and I’m a bit sceptical about such mice.
I haven’t been able to test the Gigabyte mouse in any store so far. Maybe Media markt has it ?

My brother got one and it felt like the cheapest piece of shit ever. I was actually going to say DON’T get that mouse because I thought you might be tempted based on similar shape to ikari.
