Monkey Island fans are in for a treat this year because not only are they going to receive a glossy remake of The Secret of Monkey Island from LucasArts, but they’ll also see a new adventure starring the self-proclaimed mighty pirate Guybrush Threepwood, his lady love Elaine Marley, and, of course, ghost pirate LeChuck from Telltale Games. Many of the Telltale developers came from LucasArts with previous Monkey Island experience, so we met with design director Dave Grossman to see what this new adventure would entail…

There are two different games:
The remake of “The Secret of Monkey Island” which is 2d, just with some new shaders and more than vga grafics +”talkie” (full voice acting) and then there is “Tales of Monkey Island” which is being produced by telltale games. Telltale games have already relaunched Sam and Max in some sort of series; they published episodes a few bucks each every month. These were 2 Series à 6 episodes. Looks like this is going to happen to MI too, and that is what the first screenshot shows. That one is going to be 3d but if they use the engine they used for Sam and Max, than this wil also be a point&click adventure with ye good ol’ inventory.

nice!
Id also like to voice love for psychonauts. A realatively new game designed by Tim Schafer (the dude that did monkey island and grim fandango). Wich is awesomely innovative and rich in humor and 10 euros on steam only.
Sure, Monkey Island was a really good game back in the days.
I am however a bit sceptical to this remake. It seems to be a bit too similar to the original when it comes to the graphics. I mean, they should be able to do something much much better than just making the water look a bit more realistic and so on.
But of course, it is nice that they are doing anything at all.
If your main worry isnt the graphics arn’t great i don’t think you really get monkey island do you ;).
Awsome i loved monkey island! back when games actually made you want to learn to read not just shoot people, the youth of today being brought up on tf2 dont know what they missed :P
“GUUUUYBRUSH THREEEPWOOOD, MIGHTY PIRATE!!!”
