Some vegas issues.

Didn’t want to put this in the movies forum as it’s nothing to do with a TF2 movie. Anyway, the issues:
Whenever I attempt to render above 800×600 a dialog box appears telling me vegas can’t render above that. This makes no sense to me given that some of the templates had their default far beyond that resolution, and the footage I’m working with is beyond 800×600. I’m 99% sure others here have used vegas to produce things beyond that, and I can’t see why it would have that kind of limitation.
The other is that when rendering at any resolution, some of the video footage isn’t there. For instance, the first scene will play perfectly but then the next will just be black with the audio still going, and then on queue the third scene will appear out of nowhere.
Any help would be appreciated – I don’t really fancy signing up to a pro editing forum and getting slaughtered ; ).
On the black screen but sound issue: Make sure the clips aren’t pre-compressed before you edit them- if they are, decompress them (re-render in virtualdub as uncompressed), then use them. Vegas doesn’t like pre-compressed files.
Hmm that may be it, but all the clips have been through the same process :s.
Edit: On close inspection it seems it’s only the footage that hasn’t been directly manipulated by vegas (ie. effects, speeding up/slowing down, etc) that isn’t rendering properly, so you’re probably on the ball.
Also had the problem with the black videos while sound was still working. Solved it by making sure to activate “Disable Resample” (Context menu -> Switches -> Disable Resample) on every clip.
As for the resolution, you need the Platinum Edition of Vegas to render HD movies (probably above that resolution), but I might be wrong
