Gotta say, well done UK. I loved the opening ceremony yesterday.

Loved how they showed the history of industrial revolution, very well done.
But Rowan Atkinson’s part was one of the best indeed. :D
Disappointed. Expected Karl Pilkington to light the flame.
I was extremely dissapointed when the guy finds her phone, and then he calls her to say ‘ive found your phone’, and she actually picks up? And then he gives her phone back? I assume I must have missed something but still.
I was highly skeptical and grumpy about the whole thing, but then I really enjoyed the Opening Ceremony, thought it was very well done :)
Except the flags, SO LONG. And no MUSE. :(
Last edited by beach,
There was a muse song, a pitiful one at that though.
Had hoped for someone better to light the torch, nobody would have been able to beat stephen hawking if he was somehow lined up to do it
There were two Muse songs, but the anthem “Survival” they wrote for the games wasn’t played.
Best Olympic flame in history. Interesting and poignant spectacle. Really enjoyed it.
Enjoying loads of obscure sports. Love the Olympics.
Anyone else notice this?

thats because its shit.
I liked the opening ceremony, however with the exception of jerusalem and mr bean most of the music was shit. :/
Its A shame John barry died last year (british composer, Bond films, born free, etc) I would have had him doing a large part of the score with LSO for all of the revolution and nhs etc
And then got John Murphy, (lock stock, Snatch, to do the modern day stuff)
All live music would have been so cool, but instead we got emiliilil sandy singing out of key and dizzy rascal being a cunt.
Other than the music though I had no problems, Danny Boyle did a great job, but he should have brought in a legendary british composer like above to help him out, its not his area. I also felt there was no connection between a lot of the musical pieces and changes in genre and style came too quickly, making some parts feel rather disjointed, a musical ear may have helped.
I’m working the Olympics, got a few snaps from our studio earlier

D: The Who and Led Zep got 10 seconds each!
Speaking of the whole opening ceremony, I was very disappointed with Danny Boyle’s decision to start the history of the ‘Isles of Wonder’ at the Industrial Revolution, with hardly any acknowledgement of the Empire or of Britain’s naval might and history – the only ship in it was the immigrant one from Jamaica.
