Hard mouse pads

Essay time!
I want the smoothest mouse pad I can get and Iv heard that hard mouse pads are the way to go, however iv been using the razer goliath speed for a while and have gotten used to the very large surface area something like 42 cm, this and my 360 being around 60cm, I would like something at least 35cm which is pretty hard to find in a hard mouse pad..
Iv been looking at reviews for ages and they either have no idea what they are talking about, or dont really give any REAL understanding of what the pad is like. Also so many of the hard pads seem to have bumpy logos on them, which makes me think the designers genuinely had mental issues (why would you do that to a mouse mat?).
I was thinking about getting the Iron Clad by razer http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004HKSYAC/ref=asc_df_B004HKSYAC8858469?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B004HKSYAC But apparently this happens to them http://www.overclock.net/t/968093/razer-ironclad-fail .. This might be because those people let their mice’s feet grind down and never replace, or they wear big ass watches, but I have heard that in general hard pads all do something similar.
If hard pads arent the way to go, does anyone know a good mouse pad thats at least 35cm and smooth as hell?
TLDR: Need pad smoother than shaved panda, hard bad? Soft good? What get?

Emm…rather innocent question here, but how do people play with hard mouse mats when it wears down the bottom surface of the mouse gliders? And how do people stand the grating feeling of smooth against rough surfaces?
I hate the friction balance on hard mouse pads, feels like you’re playing on a copy of good housekeeping
I like my Roccat Taito. The largest appears to be 45.5x37cm. http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Mousepads/ROCCAT-Taito-Series/#crb_2
this is my hard mouse pad: http://www.corporate.qpad.se/modules/news/article.php?storyid=231 i really enjoy it but if you dont wont a hard one you can still get like pure trak talent or steelseries qck heavy
I used to use Razer Exact Moupad and the sound of my mouse scraping against it, when a little bit of dust go on there, made me cringe.
At the same time, when I switched to QCK+ (still using it) I had to upper my sens a bit since movement is not as easy and takes a while to use to after using hard mat for over a year.
In my opinion there are people who don’t use hard mats and people who will stop and regret ever buying it.
I used an Icemat for years, it’s still in my drawer. The mouse moved over it so much smoother than the textile mat I have at the moment. The difference is quite significant at first but it’s quickly forgotten. I wouldnt really think it’s worth changing just for the sake of it.
get a puretrak talent, best mousemat I ever had, smooth as.
Recently changed back to my Roccat Sota. I recommend it:

Worth it
As someone who has used magazines and stacks of paper for years I can deny this statement. I only use a 2nd hand mousemat now because it was big cheap and floppy
4 weeks food for a mousemat almost as hard and resistant as the desk it covers
