This looks really interresting… A new game console for the TV, powered by open-source Android. All games will be free.
Their Kickstarter for $950k has hit the 2 million mark within one day.
Exciting :D
tegra is bad

“For gamers, every game will be free to play: what this means is that there will at least be a free demo”
Will be interesting to see how many games are free exactly :].
Looks a lot like a cheap pc that runs android.. I mean it could be alright but the little advert thing constantly shows high end 3d games, while this thing barely has the power to run most flash games..
As long as it stays as cheap as they say it will be its pretty cool I guess, more than anything you are paying for a linux controller based ui..

It seems like its just a device that supports the games available for android devices, and pretty much 0 android games even support controller schemes.. The “free games” they are talking about are already free, you can already play every game they will have on this, at least at launch, on most new android phones. When they talk about minecraft being on it, its most likely just the android pocket edition of minecraft which is pretty bad as it is, the same with twitchtv.
Its a cool device, but I think a lot of people misunderstand the power, or even the software behind it, it blows my mind that they have raised so much money.

agreed. Android is not a gaming platform, people seem to forget that nowadays. No change to the base software/hardware is going to change that.
I have seen a bit about this device before. It is a great idea, but it would much better suit a family/ kids style console rather than a hardcore gamer market which they are currently targeting.
The system is technically powerful enough to produce some fairly nice graphics, but would be much better suited to cartoony, n64 style games. and could be a really great family console for young gamers that isn’t such a hit on the pocket as the wii (buying games) and you don’t have to flail your arms about like a prick!
tldr, great idea, totally wrong audience. No serious gamer is going to buy this. cool kiddies toy though
