Woah chill :D no need to send the classics police on me. This topic is about dubstep so I name dubstep classics. Admitted, some of the tunes listed might be a bit more personal but the bulk are tracks that you could find in the majority of the dj’s record bags at the time of release (and, béfore release, in a lucky small minority of dj’s who had a dubplate :D)
I get your definition of classic though, but it doesn’t really work that way in dance/dj genres. These genres usually carry a more narrowed down definition, and the people working within the genre influence eachother a lot, so it’s easier to see the evolution of the genre and mark the big tunes.
Classic can most definately be applied to EDM just not dubstep. It’s also truly fucking woeful I can’t imagine how terrible a dub rave would be..

Thing is a lot of what I would call good dubstep isn’t stuff you can rave to really, has an ambience/Trancey/melancholy feel at 140. Not sure what branch of EDM you are personally into, but I assure you there would be some dubstep you like the sound of, just maybe it’s not something you’ve come across yet. I’m into a lot of the stuff which is essentially Old-Armada/AVB esque but engineered at 12bpm higher, just perhaps not something you would pigeonhole into dubstep. I will always prefer other types of EDM,but some stuff does hit the spot nicely.
As for the ‘classic’ moniker, it simply correlates to art of a recognised and established value, and therefore ‘classics’ could be engineered at any point during time, and indeed judged by the person who is judging it.
Skeej really can call whatever he likes a classic due to his definition of the threshold value. I would also be interested to have some snippets of what you would call ‘classics’ in the field of EDM you are into
I can’t wait to dismiss them

Wow, thanks. I was struggling on how to clarify my standpoint “This topic is about dubstep so I name dubstep classics.” but I couldn’t have written it down any better than you just did :D .
Dubstep has it’s classics just as, for instance, psytrance surely has its classics. I wouldn’t know them, and I wouldn’t like them, because I think psytrance is boring, and a psytrance rave would be woeful for me.
Also, isn’t EDM a term that is only used by music 50+ year old music journalists? :D
ok enough talk more tunes

Fair point. My knowledge about this music is somewhat limited.
