Hey, for my university studies i’m gonna try to learn some new programs, specifically Zbrush and 3ds max, maybe cinema 4d and maya eventually, so i have some experience in these programs for future work/jobs etc.
Does anyone have any experience in these programs? im going to spend alot of time getting into these programs, mostly Zbrush because if im not mistaken this program is used alot in the video game/3d modelling industry.
If anyone can link me to some usefull beginnger tutorials, i’m looking for stuff myself, but theres alot to learn and i dont wanna miss out the basics of the program.
Thank you ;>

Yeah i had a quick look there, found this link; http://cg.tutsplus.com/articles/web-roundups/tutorial-roundup-82-earth-shattering-zbrush-tutorials/
seem abit too advanced for me at the moment :-)
Ah don’t worry dude. 3D Modelling isn’t too difficult conceptually, it’s artistic.
You just need to get the knack of the basic tools for creation and manipulation, then learn about texturing, then render settings. Sure it’s a bit to take in, but totally do-able.

Attempting modelling a head through a tutorial, messing up a tiny bit. RAGING.

Yea, I raged at Maya so hard I RQ uni =3
Gnomon workshop had some good ones when I was learning zbrush 3, dunno if they’ve kept up to date with it. I particularly like “the making of Trin/Jester” ones, as it went through the wholel work process from start to finish. (basemeshing in Maya, then zbrush, finishing in maya). Pixologic also have some pretty decent tutorials on their site.
For cinema4d, the main resource out there is gonna be greyscalegorilla, but if game design is what you’re gunning for, you’re better off focusing your time on Max or Maya (seems to me, the gaming industry is shifting more towards Maya every day, but I’m no expert). Cinema4d is a superb and easy to use program, but more specialized towards visualization and motion graphics.
Useful tutorial for understanding zbrush. Scott Spencer’s pretty ridiculously good at zbrush

You could add me on steam or find me on irc in #etf2l if you have any questions regarding 3ds max, I’ve been working with it for about 7-8 years now.

+ creating a rig for the mesh and skinning, if you wish to have better control over your animation (or even attempt to create a simple bone animation when programming a game).
Oh and tutsplus is awesome.
Whats going to be the program that i’ll need to learn the most out of these, i mean looking at various websites job pages they’re interested in a mixture of 3ds max + maya or zbrush + maya. 3ds max would be easier for me to pickup since i spent a few weeks messing around making simple stuff on it a year or so a go.
Although i like the idea of learning a program from fresh
