Always wanted to get into eve online. Never had anyone to actually help me get in it and help me on getting started!
eve is extremely unforgiving, its not like WoW where you can die and pretty much not suffer any consequences, if you ship gets destroyed or you get podded (your character dies and respawns) you stand to lose a LOT
but thats one of the (many) reasons why eve is so much better than wow, if you invest a lot of time into eve then you will reap the rewards of an amazing mmo
i had a 2003 character that my friend now plays on so i played eve for a fairly long time, sometimes its a chore but if you start injecting skillpoints into the pvp skilltrees and get some combat experience you can find yourself in a nice little pvp corp doing piracy/0.0 roaming warfare/lowsec warfare/highsec warefare and you will have a LOT of fun
but again eve requires a lot of time and patience (more so than most mmos) to get something good out of it
i quit because i wasnt enjoying what i was doing in eve (low sec piracy) and with the work i had i didnt have time to invest in joining another corp or alliance but otherwise id still be playing it right now and podding roleplaying idiots in geminate
deffinately give the game a go, it has so much depth its untrue, at least try the trial
also once you start playing the trial, you get a well made built-in tutorial which teaches you the basics right away
that and you automatically get added to the rookie help channel where you can ask questions about eve
It’s a fantastic game, the pvp is extremely brutal in terms of loss/reward but with all the tutorials they have added now you can pick up the basics really quick and be out pew-pewing players in a couple of days. If you send me your email addy i can send you a 21 day free trial instead of the 14 you get if you are not reffered.
trial is enough time to understand how repetitive and boring the game is
fun fact: it takes over 20 years to max out your char
Last edited by AnimaL,
Hope into it and get into a player owned corp. Eve wiki and eve university wiki are great resources.

i guess you mined or ran missions for the 14 days? no wonder you were bored…
Eve is an awesome game. I started in 2003 and played till 2005. Had a few characters including one who just robbed corps as soon as they made him director. Was good fun :D
To get the most fun out of the game, you definitely want to PvP. When I came back to it in 2007 for about 18 months, I played a more industrial character and that gets dull as fuck after a while. The main reason for not playing it anymore is the cost per month as you tend to want to run 2-3 accounts so you have plenty of money to fund your PvP habit.
Just been looking at the next update that comes out soon, it’s very tempting to get back into the game…

yes, wait there is smth else in that game?
Drop me a message (Deshfak ingame) if you’ll need some financial help at start. EVE is a great game if you’re playing it with nice people and not making it your second job. Although it’s quite difficult to have fun during first months since you have to train learning/fitting skills, earn some money etc.

Use the buddy program to get starting funds and more time to your trial (3w i think instead of 14d) – just google it.
EVE is what you make of it – if you want to enjoy it, you will enjoy it. Get your feet into pvp soon and get yourself some friends (e.g. a corporation) to fly and have fun with, they’ll also teach you the stuff that you don’t learn from the game’s tutorials.
Fly safe. :)

No offence but you aren’t helping your argument. Last video is some trailer right? Because I didn’t see any menus or gameplay. Trailers are very poor representations of the game because they are made to promote the game and make it look as amazing as possible.
I assume that the music in “Large Capital Fight in Eve” is added and is not part of the game, therefore it’s only fair to judge it with music turned off in which case it looks immensely boring. For the first video I can’t say much since it’s blocked in this godforsaken hellhole.
I tried the trial twice. Both times the amount of things was overwhelming. Granted it was a long time ago before the changes. Not my kind of game since I like shooting dudes and something that’s a bit more fast-paced.
I’m not saying EVE is a bad game. It looks gorgeus and if you belong to the niche that likes space-sim-spreadsheet-timeconsumers then it’s probably right up your alley.
