Or maybe not so random, since they occur either first, second or third time I launch TF2 after each reboot. Sometimes TF2 randomly crashes on startup, then on Steam’s and/or TF2’s relaunch I get BSOD. Happens when ‘Loading’ label is about to disappear.

Specs:
ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 (FSB 266MHz)
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.80 GHz
Kingston 1GB DDR2-533
Sparkle Geforce 7600GS @ AGP 8x (fastwrites enabled)
Seagate Barracuda @ IDE x3:
7200.7 @ Primary Master
ATA IV @ Primary Slave
7200.9 @ Secondary Master

Setup:
Windows XP Pro SP2 installed on FAT32 partition on 7200.7
OmegaDrivers 2.169.21
Steam installed on NTFS partition on 7200.9

Debug timeline:
#1. dxg.sys (0xc0000005)
#2. win32k.sys (Bugcheck(19) – BAD_POOL_HEADER)
#3. nv4_mini.sys (0x1000008E)
—here I reinstalled cpu fan because of massive overheating before–
#4. npfs.sys (0x1000008E)
#5. dxg.sys (0x1000008E, exception 0xc0000005)
–here I reinstalled gpu drivers from random from Guru3d to OD–
#6. ntfs.sys (Bugcheck(24) – NTFS_SYSTEM_FILE)
–here I moved Steam from ATA IV to 7200.9 – in both cases it was installed on NTFS partition–
#7. nv4_mini.sys (0x1000008E, exception 0xc0000005)
#8. ntoskrnl.exe (0x1000000A) (4,2,0,random address)
#9. win32ksys (0xc5) (1,2,1,random address)
#10. fastfat.sys (Bugcheck(23) – FAT_SYSTEM_FILE)
#11. win32k.sys (0x1000008E) (0xc0000005)

BIOS is updated, benchmarks work fine. Haven’t ran any real stress tests yet though. Nothing’s overclocked. I’m tempted to reinstall Windows on NTFS partition. OpenGL games (i.e. Minecraft, QL) work fine.

EDIT: I’ve ran memtest86+ for seven cycles and got no errors, so let’s assume memory’s not corrupted.

Any ideas?

I did try autoconfig sir, but as far as I know, fps configs have nothing to do with File Allocation Table system.

get heapsize the fuck out of there. it’s fucking bad. it will not improve your fps and is known to cause crashes, why m0re had it in his configs is anyone’s guess.

i’m having the same kind of problem (also BSOD)
only my pc crashes and then reboots itself :S
it seems to do it when my computer has been on for quite some time,
atleast 10+ hours

no idea how to fix it though :/

make new thread, highly unlikely to be related.

Apparently Source engine doesn’t like my setup for some reason, since I’ve ran 3dmark03 for six hours and played UT2004 for next few without any artifacts, crashes or similar.

You indiciated to only have this problem in tf2 and not other games – hence you cannot conclude that it’s definitely your disk.

I understand why you’d think an fps config has nothing to do with it, but consider this; Valve could have changed some internal behaviour that may trigger bugs, based on w/e settings you may be using in your config. I’m not saying this is definitely the case – I’m merely pointing it out as a possibility.

I’ve just managed to launch TF2 with autoconfig just to see some weird shit on Snowie’s timedemo, i.e. frozen models, no rocket trails, no viewmodels, weird colors on red scout, so I really don’t know what the hell is going on, sir – that is the only thing that frustrates me.

Very much sounds like an overheating (or broken!) graphics card.

that doesn’t mean your pc would crash.

Yes, and it goes well with the 266 mhz fsb motherboard. Slow, granted, but this shouldn’t cause crashes.
