Ever since Plants versus Zombies got the GOTY update, I’ve been unable to launch it, or any popcap game (peggle extreme and deluxe are the only other ones I have). Any time I try them, I get the message “Unable to load Steam.dll”

I’ve tried moving steam.dll from the steam folder to the pvz folder, repeatedly un- and re-installed, verified the game cache, running it in compatibility mode and as admin, to no avail. Graphics drivers, windows and directx are all up to date afaik. I figured contacting Steam would result in them telling me to contact Popcap, and all Popcap can suggest is everything I’d already tried.
My next idea is to delve into the registry to see if I can delete anything there, but I’m not really sure how well that would go.

Any ideas would be appreciated. :)

I have had a problem with plants vs zombies since that update as well. Mine is slighlty different.

When I launch it, it will minimise itself. When I click on it from the taskbar it will maximise then minimise straight away.

Apparently this is to do with some in game setting (3d acceleration or some thing) that you are supposed to turn off but I can’t maximise the game.

This is probably nothing to do with your problem but the update to P vZ seems to have screwed it up for a load of people.
