afaik demo files dont have a resolution. You choose the reslolution before launching tf2 through the pldx tool. Then the window it opens will be at that resolution and it will record at the res. The .dem file itself is just a snapshot of game states that the game recreates as you go through it. Like a list of ingredients for a recipe.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to do tbh as you mention firing rockets and getting in the air whilst watching the demo! The demo is a recording of someone playing the game, you wont be able to make them do something they didn’t do. If you want to get footage from outside the person’s perspective then see youtube for ‘How to smooth tf2’ videos, or go to third person mode.

If you have an STV demo then you can fly around at will just by pressing space to toggle between camera modes, from first person to third to free camera, which will move with the wasd keys.

The dem file needs to be in your tf folder to play and it cant have any unusual charcters in it’s name, stick with letters, numbers and the occasional underscore or it wont work. No ? / ! etc. If it was zipped/compressed in some way you’ll need to unzip it with, say winrar or something similar.

You can check if the .dem file is playable by just opening tf2 without the pldx tool and see if it plays then, if no, then try renaming as above, making sure it’s in the right folder and is uncompressed or maybe re-downloading the dem file.

There must be a reason why playing a demo thru pldx crashes the game….I have no idea what that might be. I dont think any spaces can be in the demo names….?

So try loading the game normally, record a demo with a name of test123 or something very simple and short with no spaces or stuff and then load up the game with pldx and play the demo. It can take a bit of time to load up and I sometimes see a (not responding) message, but if you wait for a bit longer it’ll work.

I think they have an irc channel called #pldx or something, try asking salmon in there about it. He made the thing so he should be able to help. Otherwise I’m out of ideas sorry, I really dont know much about how it works, just that it does for me.

I can’t get the fucking thing to work, I can play demos now thanks for telling me to wait so I did wait and I can play the demos the problem is, none of the keys seem to work. I press 1,2,3,4,5,6 it doesn’t spin the camera around shift doesn’t make it thirdperson so I have to do that manually through the console and Z and X don’t work for zooming in and out F11 AND F12 don’t record anything and the arrow keys certainly don’t move the camera it’s pissing me right off
