BTW, anyone that has seen yoyotech’s frag video, when they are introducing the players the name flys across the screen and the camera is circling the player. If anyone knows how to get the camera circling around the player please tell me. I assume you record a demo in TF2 and use the demo replay thingy but after that I have no idea. I don’t know. ;(

Trust me, if I can manage it, it has to be easy!
Ermm, I have no idea why that would happen, i’ve never had any problems with it at all. Make sure the resolution you choose to record at isn’t higher than your monitor resolution. Maybe that’s why it’s crashing…
oh im trying to play previous recordings and i play fullscreen(obviously) anyway I’m going to give it another try now the only problem is how am I going to get Harlski’s jump. He would have to do it himself and send it me but it would be too big to out in an email wat we were doing previously was sending the .dem files as they are tiny but how will we do this?
erm I don’t know if I’m doing this wrong but I assume I have to record a demo in PLDX to have it at that resolution and then play it back using the playdemo command, the only problem is well I can’t fire any rockets or jump so how do I get in the air?!?!
Ok, it’s easy, honest. The demo that you recorded, or your friend recorded, can be passed between you both using a file sharing site, upload it and give each other the link. Easy mode.
Load up the PLDX recording tool and you should get a box with lots of options and tick boxes and a big rectangular box at the bottom saying ‘launch tf2’ or something similar. Click this box but ensure that you have steam running when you do, and make sure the resolution you pick isn’t bigger than your monitor res.
When tf2 loads you will see a menu with all the commands you need to record and manipulate the demo as you watch it. In the little box at the the bottom, type, ‘playdemo demoname and it will load up and start playing. You can fast forward using the ‘demoui’ boxes. If you want to jump to a particular tick then only do it in 10,000 jumps or it will crash. Better to fast forward at 600% generally.
Use the tga format, (F12 I think), to record. Press it once to start and once to stop. When it’s recording it should go very slow and choppy, dont worry.
You’ll need virtual dub to make the stuff you capture editable, it’s a free download. You load up the first of the tga files in vDub, called something like a1_000001 from your tf folder. Add the audio which will be wav.a1 or something similar and ‘Save as AVI’ at the same fps as you recorded at.
You know have a clip with audio that vegas can edit in highest quality.

I use the lagarith lossless codec which you can download from the site too. there’s lots of tutorials on that site and I bet youtube could help you out too. Feel free to add me on steam if you want some more info. Good luck, have fun.
Well I could probably do all that except like I said I can’t run demos. It crashes when I type the command playdemo and I know there are file sharing sites but the point is that it will need to be at a certain resolution before he sends it to me(the .dem file) so that PLDX will run it.
