Do you know what, I think I’ll just stick to fraps as this is much to difficult for my confused simian brain to cope with. I mean this:

‘Use the two batch files, “TF2 – Game Configuration & TF2 – Movie Configuration” to switch between game & movie setups. You’ll need to edit TF2 – Game Configuration.bat – copy whatever launch options you have in Steam and paste them there. As an example I left my launch options.

Configure prefences.cfg & xhair.cfg to your liking and you’re ready to record :)’,

really doesn’t make much sense to me I’m afraid. I am, officially, a lost cause.

Thanks anyway guys, really appreciated, but I’m just going to have to get used to having low quality vids.

Bummer.

It’s really not as difficult as it sounds :P Basically that will make a second ‘tf’ folder with settings for recording (higher quality, binds, sound files etc) and the two batch files switch between the game and movie directories.

OK, so I got my two folders in the ‘tf – team fortress 2’ folder, one called game config and one called movie config. This appears to have worked. But how do I swop between the two? Is that on loading the game or can it be done in game or……argh I SUCK!

In ‘Team Fortress 2’ you should have ‘tf’ and ‘tfMOVIE’. So you can see that tf is your normal game setup atm. if you run movie configuration.bat it will swap tfMOVIE with tfGAME.

You have to switch when TF2 is closed.

.bat as in windows batch file yeah? Ok, I got: team fortress 2 > tf > team fortress 2 > game and movie reg entries (?) and tf2 – game and movie configs which are ‘batch files’. Clicking on either of those brings up the cmd thingy which says it cannot find this file.

Now I just double clicked the reg entries and…. clicking the bat files now brings up the cmd, it doesn’t say can’t find file now. Is that done then?

Wow, are we getting somewhere….. So I launch TF2 now and it’s…different. It’s worked! Lost all my options, screen res etc. and the console has appeared automatically.

I shall continue reading and see if I can get anywhere, cheers man.

pldx config is easy to install and use:

Just follow the guide! It installs itself, and has a nice easy GUI to follow.

Monkey was having some problems, fixed them now, thanks for your help though guys.

IMO stick with Movie Maker, maybe use WeGame to record (you can record in HD)

Hell no. Learning to do it properly is tougher but will produce much better results.

i just use sourcerecorder without any of the bat files for recording clips

open the demo, get to a little before the part you want to record, pause it
open console, type ‘startmovie filename avi’, select x264, close console
resume demo, close demoui, let it record, open console, type endmovie

hope that helps!!!!

Rather than using peer to peer data trafficking, you might want to search Rapidshare ;)
Is probably faster than p2p you have access to ;)

Ok, so I found some freeware called ‘Avidemux’ and managed to work out how to apply some colour correction, contrast fiddling and brightness meddling to this little movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxag1uBBEg0 And ended up with this little movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS3i6CaMQXY Then I messed around some more and made it into this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf0WiMoJTg8

I had the sense to write down the settings for each of them, so which is the best do YOU think: The original, The colour corrected one or the fancy pants ‘changed to 60fps and added some effects’ one?

Feedback appreciated. Thanks.

.wldcrd!

On a related note, anyone had any experience recording with WeGame in HD mode? Got a friend trying to record general gameplay from *le-gasp* modern warfare 2, but he rejects torrenting in all its forms

Obviously might not be any good for editing with, but still

Would anyone be so kind as to post a link or description, (made for idiots!), that explains how to get rid of all of the HUD, bar the kill messages?

Cheers.
