I have a problem with Vegas where the video’s that I render are incredibly high file size!

What are the best settings to render with for HD YouTube? The video length is around 4-5 minutes long. When I normally try and render about 30 seconds it’s about 60MB in size.

In the ‘save as’ dropdown list of render as , choose windows media video v11 (*.wmv)
Then where it says my template , press custom and create a custom template with these settings. Go to video

Mode: Quality VBR
Image size: HD 1280×720 (which is the best resolution for youtube if you want hd)
frame rate: choose how much you want
seconds per keyframe: 5

then press OK and render it

If you render wmv then there’s a chance that the audio on the video will get out of sync on youtube and other places. You should render it as a lossless video out of vegas and encode it with a x264 encoder to a h264 encoded video.

Do what Salmon said and use: http://www.pldx.com/blog.php/2009/06/encoding-h264-with-ffmpeg/ . It’s the simplest way to encode I found.

if you want high quality you will always get a very big file outta vegas. You need to use other programms like virtual dub, that can compress things for you rlly easy.
